Lufthansa: Frankfurt-Bastia

  

  With the start of the summer schedule in March 2011, German flag-carrier airline Lufthansa (LH) is to start a once-weekly seasonal service from its hub at Frankfurt (FRA) to Bastia (BIA), on the northeast coast of the French Island of Corsica.

  From April 2, Lufthansa will fly the route every Saturday, using 70-seater Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft. Despite Lufthansa being generally considered a business-oriented airline, this route is likely to see mainly tourist traffic, as inhabitants of the Upper Rhine Valley jet south for the Corsican sun and beaches. The schedules are as follows:

This is Lufthansa's second route from Bastia, already serving the town from Hamburg (HAM), another of its German hubs. The route will face no direct competition when it begins operation in April, but other airlines do serve Bastia from other German cities. Germanwings (4U), Lufthansa's low-cost subsidiary, will operate to Berlin Schönefeld (SXF), Cologne/Bonn (CGN) and Stuttgart (STR); Instersky (3L), a small German regional airline, will operate to Friedrichshafen (FDH) and Luxair (LG) will fly to Luxembourg (LUX), which although not in Germany, is still fairly close to Frankfurt.





  Avec le début des horaires d'été en mars 2011, la compagnie porte-drapeau allemande Lufthansa (LH) commencera une liaison hebdomadaire entre son hub à Francfort (FRA) et Bastia (BIA), une ville située sur la côte nord-est de l'île française de Corse.

  Dès le 2 avril, Lufthansa effectuera la liaison chaque samedi avec un appareil Bombardier CRJ-700 de 70 places. En dépit du fait que Lufthansa est d'habitude considérée comme une compagnie « business », les vols sont susceptibles d'attirer une clientèle majoritairement touriste, les habitants de la vallée du Rhin souhaitant s'envoler au sud pour les plages ensoleillées corses.   C'est en fait la deuxième ligne de Lufthansa à destination de Bastia, l'autre étant depuis Hambourg (HAM) dans le nord du pays. La liaison n'aura aucune concurrence directe à son lancement en avril prochain, mais d'autres compagnies desservissent Bastia depuis d'autres villes allemandes. Germanwings (4U) subsidiaire low-cost de Lufthansa, opère des vols vers Berlin Schönefeld (SXF), Cologne/Bonn (CGN) et Stuttgart (STR); Instersky (3L), une compagnie régionale allemande, aura des vols vers Friedrichshafen (FDH) et Luxair (LG) s'envolera vers Luxembourg (LUX), à 3 heures de Francfort, mais situé en Luxembourg.
