Alitalia: Rome-Toulouse

From 27 March 2011, Alitalia (AZ), Italy's national airline, will launch a daily (except Saturdays) flight between its base at Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Toulouse (TLS), a city which keeps cropping up in these route announcements (with another 4 still to go), located in southwest France. These flights will be operated with CRJ-900 regional jets, configured with 90 seats.

Daily (except Saturday): AZ366 FCO1535-1730TLS / AZ367 TLS1815-2000FCO

While this route should be especially attractive to business passengers, there is a large potential for tourist traffic, with 'toulousains' heading to Rome and Italian Tourists heading to Toulouse to see the city and the surrounding countryside, or as a pilgrimage to the religious site at nearby Lourdes. However, the route is not without competition: both Air France (AF) and easyJet (U2) (see http://aerofrench.blogspot.com/2010/09/todays-new-routes-les-nouvelles_11.html) fly direct between Toulouse and Rome Fiumicino, not to mention Meridiana Fly (IG) who will commence a Rome Fiumicino-Lourdes/Tarbes (LDE) route shortly afterwards (see http://aerofrench.blogspot.com/2011/02/meridiana-rome-fiumicino-lourdestarbes.html).


Dès le 27 mars 2011, Alitalia (AZ), la compagnie nationale italienne, inaugurera une liaison quotidienne (sauf samedis) entre sa base principale à Rome Fiumicino (FCO) et Toulouse (TLS), une ville qui ressort assez souvent en ce moment dans mes annonces (j'en ai encore 4 à faire après celui-là), situé dans le sud-ouest de la France. Ces vols seront effectués par des appareils régionaux turbopropulseurs CRJ-900 de 90 sièges.

Tandis que cette ligne devrait attirer un bon nombre de passagers business, il y a aussi un grand potentiel pour le marché touristique, les toulousains voyageant vers Rome et les italiens se rendant à Toulouse pour visiter la ville et ses alentours, ou en pèlerinage vers le site religieux à Lourdes. Néanmoins, la ligne n'est pas sans concurrent : Air France (AF) et easyJet (U2) (voir http://aerofrench.blogspot.com/2010/09/todays-new-routes-les-nouvelles_11.html) ont des vols directs entre Toulouse et Rome Fiumicino ; et Meridiana Fly (IG) commencera une ligne vers Lourdes/Tarbes (LDE) depuis Rome peu après (voir http://aerofrench.blogspot.com/2011/02/meridiana-rome-fiumicino-lourdestarbes.html).
